Dating safety tips
Never send money, especially by wire transfer, even if someone claims it's an emergency. Wire transfers are nearly impossible to reverse or trace. If anyone asks you for money, report them to us right away.
Don't share your social security number, home or work address, or daily routine with people you don't know. If you're a parent, keep details about your children private.
Stay on the platform while you get to know someone. People with bad intentions often try to move the chat elsewhere quickly.
Be cautious of anyone who says they're stuck overseas and needs help getting home, refuses to video call or meet, or pushes for a serious relationship before you've met.
Report requests for money, underage users, harassment or threats, fake profiles, spam and anything that makes you uncomfortable, whether it happens online or in person.
Take your time. A video call before you meet is a great way to spot red flags, and you can make one inside Peck without sharing your number.
For the first few dates, choose busy public places and avoid private homes. If someone pressures you to go somewhere private, end the date.
Let a friend or family member know who you're meeting, where and when. Keep your phone charged and with you.
Make sure you can leave whenever you want. Have a backup plan, such as a ride-share app or a friend on call.
Be mindful of how alcohol affects you. Only accept drinks from the bartender or server, and never leave your drink or belongings unattended.
It's always okay to end a date early. Trust your instincts, and ask staff for help if you need it.
Some countries have laws that target LGBTQ+ people. Before you travel, research local laws and protections. ILGA World tracks sexual orientation laws by country.
In places with discriminatory laws, police have been known to use dating apps for entrapment. Take extra care when connecting with new people there.
Using condoms consistently lowers the risk of STIs, including HIV. Many STIs have no symptoms, so get tested regularly and talk with your partner about testing before you're intimate.
All sexual activity needs consent, and it can be withdrawn at any time. Check in with each other often. Someone who is impaired by drugs or alcohol cannot give consent. RAINN has more on consent.
Community guidelines
These rules keep Peck fun, safe and inclusive. Breaking them can lead to anything from a warning to account termination, including for behavior off the app toward people you met on Peck.
